Metallic Ombre nails. I did these colours on my toes in the past (see #88).

#84 PSYCHEDELIC
I'm really sorry but I took so many pictures of my marble art nails... The colours really change with different light.
Done with:
China Glaze in Spontanious,
Max Factor in Cool Jade,
Astor in 208
and a Sephora gel top coat
I used the Astor one as a base, which is a light pink shade with pearl:

#63 Price class
Have you ever wondered why there are nail polish brands that sell their polishes for over 15 bucks and others for 0.99 cents?
Did you ever question yourself what's the difference in quality and if it pays off to invest ten times more money into the same colour?
I tried to compare three pink polishes with quite the same colour, but very different prices.
I. OPI in That's Hot! Pink (kinda my all time favourite), ~16 €
II. H&M in French Kiss, 3,95 € (though my sister bought it on sale for 1 €)
III. Essence in Ultimate Pink, 1,25 €
![]() |
| The colours look all pretty similar. Because the nails on thumb and index were already chipping, I only compared the other three nails. |
Let's start with applying:
I compared the quality of the brushes and how smooth you can apply your polish. And also if the consistence leaves streaks or an uneven surface on the first layer.
The essence polish definitely wins because it has a round brush which makes it easier to paint. The colour was more runny than the others, though, not so opaque.
OPI has a really thick brush, which is ok, too. The coverage was very good, just like the H&M. The brush with the latter wasn't that good for applying because its way too thin.
The next point is drying time:
My results aren't quite accurate because I checked on how dry the polishes were from time to time by touching the surface, but I didn't do it thoroughly in order to not mess up the nails.
From that, I had the feeling that the OPI took the longest to dry.
Last point: durability
This is a picture I took after about one week. The pinky with the essence polish looked a little bit worn out. The middle finger's tip with the OPI looked the most chipped!
Notice that on all three nails there is only one layer of polish! So it's not true that more expensive polish stays longer!
The H&M one clearly wins in this category!
Here is a chart I made to sum it up:
My result is that the best one is the cheapest one!
But I also have to mention that the OPI one was the oldest polish, we bought it about 5, 6 years ago!
Maybe that's the reason why the most expensive polish lost to the other cheaper two.

#61 BALLIN'
Does the design make it a party-themed nails or the title?
:-|
Somewhat crappy tuxedo nails because I draw the black parts freehand. I think matte top coat makes your nails look very classy tho.
Making these bows was such a pain in the ass!
Normally the beads stick to your wet layer of polish, but I had to put them on the matte polish that dried way too fast. I almost needed half an hour to finish one bow!
>______<"
I messed up so much on the right hand so that I had to cover it with glitter polish that doesn't even fit to the nail design...

#59 Silver Rain
...or rather
#59 seat patterns of public transport:
Which heading do you find to be more fitting?
(*____^)
Anyways, done with:
Essie in Lovie Dovie,
An Astor blue (that has no name)
American Apparel Constellation
and
Rival de Loop Galaxy Shine Andromeda
Had to cut my nails because they were breaking badly
(XD)
The gradient is the same as in this 30 seconds to mars sticker I tore off a lightpole at a festival last year haha.
And one last tip:
If you ever use Lovie Dovie from essie, be sure to wear a layer of base polish underneath because this colour will stain your nails like in this pic

#56 Sugar, Baby!
I got some nail caviar/microbeads for my birthday from some supersweet friends of mine!
(^3^)
(And also a lot more nail polish n_n )
I first painted a layer of a similar pink (essence in Ultimate Pink), waited for it to completely dry, and then painted a second layer to stick the beads on it. You just dip your wet nail into the pot, that's how you do it.
I also thought that this darker silver from Skin Food, which I bought in Shanghai long time ago, would match well with the bright pink.
It's nearly impossible to get the pearls to spread evenly, that's why they looked a little crooked in my opinion. They fell off really easy on the tips, too.
I tried to fix it by appliying a top coat, but as a result, the beads looked not that shiny anymore but more of a stuck-together-mass, and my brush turned pink!!!!!
Also the colour was slightly washed away...
After about 24 hours later, my nails looked like this:
(Ever heard of Trypophobia?)
About 96% of the beads fell off!!!!!
It was somewhat annoying being careful at whatever you do all the time to protect them from falling off. (If you prepare food f.e., a good advice would be to use gloves, because you don't want little crunchy particles in your food, right?)
I removed them 2 days later, because I had enough of little pink pearls EVERYWHERE, in the shower, in the sink, in my food, in my bed...
Too bad that securing the caviar layer doesn't work well with top coat. Maybe I can use them for other creative stuff apart from my nails.

#47 Ombre Nails - Part I: 10 Shades Of Pink
Recently I've only simply painted my nails in one colour, I know, sorry for the lack of cool nail designs. But I really wanted to do some fading colour shades because my sister owns so many polishes, bright and dark tones of so many colours.
I want to try blue, maybe black fading colours, too. ;D

#45 Cutie
A K-Pop inspired post, what my sister normally does (or did). Check out her blog:
Done with:
butter London in Teddy Girl
&
essie 99 mint candy apple
I was inspired by T-Ara Jiyeon's nails
| sorry for the quality, I took a photo from the booklet of my T-Ara album |
Why are they painted in that order, I always wonder.
Here's a pic of 4 Minute Hyunah's Nails:
It looks pretty rad IMO, so random and colourful :3
